Understand the service fee on your order

For customersKarma appservice feepaymentssurplusreceipts

A service fee can appear on a Surplus purchase or on an order from a location that charges its own fee. Karma shows the fee as part of the price or order summary before you confirm payment, and records it on the receipt.

Check the fee before payment

  1. Open the Cart after adding your items.
  2. Review the item prices, discounts, service fee, and total.
  3. Continue to payment only when the displayed total is what you expect.

For Surplus items in the Karma app, the price you see includes the applicable service fee. The order summary can show how much of that price is the service fee.

A restaurant can also configure a fixed or percentage service fee for its own table or online ordering. That fee can vary by location or table, so there is no single percentage for every Karma order.

Find the fee after payment

  1. Open Activity.
  2. Select the completed order under History.
  3. Select View receipt.
  4. Find the Service fee line and compare it with the order total.

The receipt is the final record of the amount charged. A temporary amount shown by your bank can differ while a card payment is still being confirmed.

If the amount looks wrong

Do not place another order to test the price.

  1. Take a screenshot of the cart or receipt with unrelated personal information hidden.
  2. Note the location, order number, item total, service fee, and total paid.
  3. Open your profile, select Help & Support, and start a conversation under Payment.
  4. Attach the affected order when Karma asks.

Never send a full card number, password, or verification code.
