To create a new item, go to the Sales tab and then click on the plus icon at the far right of the row next to "Your menu".
Then click on "Create new menu item".
When creating a new item, you go through three steps, where the first is to describe the item.
Upload image - food sells best in Karma if you have uploaded an image of it. So make sure to do it! Read our best practices for images here.
Title of the item - what the item should be described as, for example, the name of the dish.
Description of the item - here you add additional information about the item that may be useful for the guest to know (NOTE! Any allergens are addressed in the next step and do not need to be added here).
When you are done, click "Next".
In the "contents" step, you get to specify more information about the item.
Item category - choose what type of category the item belongs to. This will help the guest when they filter in your menu.
Dish type tags - add keywords that make it easier for the guest when they search for specific items. For example, if a dish contains pasta.
Cuisine tags - specify what type of cuisine the item originates from.
Menu group - add the item to one of the menu groups you have created.
Customizations - add if the item should have any of the customization menus you may have created.
Printers - Select which printer this item should be printed on
My item is - choose the main dietary consideration or allergen that the item may have.
My item contains - specify any allergens that the item contains.
When you are done, click "Next".
In the third and final step, you get to set the regular price and VAT for the item. You can also click if the item takes a certain amount of time to prepare, which the guest will then be informed about.
When you are done, click "Save".
Now your item is created and added to your menu.
If you need to edit it, click on the three dots at the far right of the item and then select "Edit item" from the menu.
